The Professional Mourner by Neil Randall
Thank you @hyggebooktours and
@NArandall1 For letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. The Professional Mourner is a fascinating read. That I was drawn to straight the way. The story is about Milica who won’t stop crying from the minute she is born, and her parents feel she is a special little girl who has a gift, but their neighbors and friends think entirely different, but things do change for the family eventually. I found The Professional Mourner to be a powerful read that touched my heart in many places. I found The Professional Mourner easy to get into and was able to follow the story easily. This story is very different from the normal books I read, but I am delighted I read this book. It is a gripping and thought-provoking read. I did like Milca character and following her story. 5 stars

Book Title: The Professional Mourner
Book Blurb: When Milica Stanković is born, she won't stop crying. The neighours complain, her father is demoted at work, and the family are treated like pariahs. Regardless, they see something special in their daughter, how she seems possessed of a rare gift: to feel other people’s pain and suffering as if it’s her own.
Her father and a wily confidence trickster dream up a plot to hire out Milica’s services as a professional mourner. At many funerals, Milica expresses such raw emotion, it reduces the other mourners to fits of sobs, enabling to finally release all their bottled-up grief.
When word of her gifts reaches a high-ranking government official, he desperately wants to obtain her services. Their ailing leader is not only gravely ill, but his popularity has never been lower. If the Party can organise an emotionally charged state funeral, they might just be able to uplift the nation’s spirits.
Thank you so much 😊- Hygge Book Tours
