The Seer and The Stargazer by Elle Dunphy and Ceris Thomson
Thank you, @zooloosBT, for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. The Seer and the Stargazer has a calming front cover and the title works well together. The story is set in Conway and is about secret tunnel which leads to the temple of Mithras. I felt this was a very magical read and I enjoyed getting to know the characters Seren and Madoc who seemed to have crossed paths before in the previous lives. It was really good to read something totally different that I have never encountered in a book before and to be taken to totally different world for a few hours. The story is written well and is engaging and fascinating read. I felt like I was on a journey myself while reading this book and enjoyed Elle Dunphy and Ceris Thomson writing style. Can't wait to read more 4 stars
Letter from Elle
Dear Reader
Does the past make us the people we are in the future?
Serendipity led me to shift my world view and guided me to encounter
professional Welsh tarot card reader and past life regressionist, Ceris
Thomson. We met during an online reading in lockdown when everything was
topsy turvy. Ceris’ psychic visions around me were both enlightening and
enlivening in equal measure. With an immediate rapport, when lockdown
lifted, we met face to face in Conwy and struck a wonderful connection,
realising we had walked past life paths together. Everyone meets for a reason.
Ceris and her husband Martin introduced me to the embattled narrative of the
Conwy Valley, where many people have been slain. Two thousand years ago
Ancient Roman legionaries conquered the area, fought with Celtic tribesmen,
commandeered the land, set out the structure of society, created forts, built
networks of roads, and navigated the waterways to Chester and beyond. When
Roman authority collapsed in the Conwy Valley, Gaelic tribes from Ireland
invaded the region. The Welsh Maelgwyn family and their clans fought to
recapture the territory. In the Sixth Century, King Maelgwyn created Deganwy
Castle on the hilltop of the Vardre overlooking Conwy and built upon Pagan
sites created by the Romans. At the foot of the Vardre, near an Ancient Roman
site called Canovium lies Bryn Gosol Farm with its mythical underground
tunnel to the Temple of Mithras.
Against the historical drama of this region, and with information regarding
Ancient Rome from Martin Thomson, Ceris and I decided to embark on the
adventure of a lifetime and write a book together, The Seer and The Stargazer,
where all roads lead to Rome. The narrative is a fictional account of the life
of a Welsh Prophetess, Seren a modern-day Seer who uses clairvoyance, tarot
cards, magical spells, astral travel, and past life regression to depict the past,
present, and future. In some cases, real life names, events and places appear
but their use and reference within this book is entirely fictitious. The
characters are imagined, except Julius Caesar whose life and battles have been
dramatised for the purpose of this story. All other characters, events and
locations are the product of the authors’ imagination. The tale includes
legends, time dimensions and addresses universal themes of heroism, hope,
and love.
This story is dedicated to the amazing people we know.

Does the past make us the people we are in the future?
In the shadow of the Vardre in the stunning Conwy Valley lies Bryn Gosol farmhouse with its secret tunnel to the Temple of Mithras. Growing up on the farm and descending from a long line of Seers, idiosyncratic teenager Seren is guided by her nain (grandmother) to hone the power of witchcraft and become a modern-day Seer.
Drawing strength from her nain, Seren learns how to gather herbs, use crystals, create candle magic, cast spells, read tarot cards, appreciate numerology, and practise clairvoyance. Seren is stunned when nain uses an ancient grimoire in the Temple of Mithras to take her on a past life regression.
Spinning the golden thread of life from birth to death, the Fates entwine Seren’s life with Stargazer Madoc. The wrath of men and gods are exposed during past life regressions to Ancient Rome in a bewitching tale of villains and heroes, magic and witchcraft, survival and transformation. When Madoc sees nain use her ancient grimoire he is determined to establish a connection between it and the Divine secrets held in ancient Sybilline books. Will joint past life regressions reveal life lessons to help Seren and Madoc along their current life path?
This tale spanning two thousand years follows Seren and Madoc as they set forth on a mesmeric, epic journey where they witness whether the past makes us the people we are in the future.
Thank you so much for being a part of the tour and for sharing your fab review x
