A Mountain in the Air by Laura Koerber

Thank you @KellyALacey @lovebookstours #Ad #LBTCrew #BookTwitter #FreeReview #FreeBookReview for letting me be part of tbis tour and reviewing this book. A Mountain in the Air is for teenagers and above. The story Is about a Coyote called Jim who is a shape-shifting who goes on a road trip and finds a partner on his journey called Rachel the raven. This is a unique and fascinating read that I found easy to get into. A Mountain in the Air is totally different read to what I normally read, and I thought it was a breath of fresh air to read something different and brilliant story. I enjoyed Laura Koerber descriptive writing and could visualize it in my head, and it made me feel like I was actually there with the characters. This is a fabulous fantasy and is engaging from the get-go, and you will probably finish this in a day. I found myself thinking about the book couple days later, it is a very thought-provoking. 5 stars. Blurb “The deep magic of nature, though broken, lies waiting to be revitalized—or so readers may dream.” Kirkus Review Coyote Jim, the shape-shifting spirit of a desert valley, goes on a road trip through a dystopic post climate change future and finds a lover in a dying timber town in Washington state. Rachel the Raven presides over a tavern in the dying timber town and protects a small community of elderly survivalists from the local militia. Pete, a grunge musician who had a local following in the 1990's, disappeared into the wilderness of Mt. Rainier. Now forty years later, he feels a bit lonely and begins to reach out to people in their dreams. A Mountain in the Air is a trilogy consisting of three closely connected magical realism novellas set in a near future ravaged by climate change. The first two novellas were previously published as Coyote's Road Trip and Raven Woman's Tavern. “(Your writing) is polished, sophisticated, classically eloquent and all about the mood.” Matt McAvoy, MJV Literary Author Services “Koerber has a unique and original writing style that draws you in; she has a way of smoothly melding her character's points of view and creates a fascinating visual and plot.” S. Bittles, review on Goodreads" Author bio I'm an artist and writer and I live on an island with my husband, dogs, and cat. I got into writing by stealing a dog--it was such an adventure that it became a short story which morphed into a collection of short stories and won a prize! When not writing or painting, I am involved in stray cat rescue.
