Wildflower by Monique Mulligan

Thank you @Bloodhoundbook for letting me be part of this tour and reviewing this book. Wildflower is a very powerful and emotional read and I am glad I got to read it. The story is set in the past and about Jane's childhood as a 10-year-old who is bulled and with no friends who eventually a new family, moves in and Jane meets her best friend Acacia and then goes to the present where they are adults going through an abusive relationship. Wildflower is a Psycholocal thriller and the ending was not the person I thought was narrating in the present. I was shocked but it then all made sense. Wildflower is a gripping read that I read in a day, I could not put it down. I loved Jane and her family they were such a nice family that went through their own family dramas. There is some tough topic running through the book, abuse, love, bullying, relationships and many more. This is the first book I have read By Monique Mulligan and her writing g is brilliant and beautifully written. I strongly recommend this book. 5 stars. Blurb Tormented at school, ten-year-old Jane wants a best friend more than anything. Her wish is answered when Acacia moves in next door, and a carefree summer break beckons. Yet as their friendship blossoms and secrets are shared, Acacia remains stubbornly guarded about her home life, especially when it comes to her mother’s new boyfriend Daryl, a Harley-riding ladies’ man. At a neighbourhood party, Jane stumbles onto a disturbing scene involving Daryl and is coerced into silence. Frightened and confused, she stays quiet, but when sounds of violence start emerging from Acacia’s house, she hopes an adult will intervene. Instead, everyone turns a blind eye. Jane’s own family seems to be deteriorating into chaos too, as if the darkness in Acacia’s house is spreading like ripples in a pond. It will end in disaster if no one acts, and it may end in tragedy if someone does … Bio Visit moniquemulligan.com Monique Mulligan is an author, interviewer, and founder of the Stories on Stage and Prose & Convos programs in Perth.
